About the SIOG Advanced Course

The SIOG Advanced Course in Geriatric Oncology is designed for professionals who want to stay at the peak of their expertise. The course is a CME accredited training programme lead by international experts in the field of geriatrics and oncology designed to provide specific skills in assessment, care pathways and therapeutic choices for older patients with cancer. This 2-phase advanced course covers the general principles of cancer treament using case-based discussions in geriatrics for clinical oncologists as well as in clinical oncology for geriatricians.

 

Course Dates

Academic year: 2019

Phase 1: A 4 day- course in Treviso, Italy from June 26-29, 2019

Phase 2: this phase consists in attending the SIOG 2019 Annual Conference in Geneva, Switzerland (November 2019)

University Certificate will be provided to participants at the end of phase II on the proviso of attendance to Phase I and Phase II of the course.

  1. Master aspects of cancer medicine for geriatricians
  2. Access insights and applications of geriatric principles to clinical oncology
  3. Gain a solid understanding of collaboration models between medical oncologists and geriatricians

 

Articles

November 16, 2017 – the following article “Tumour boards in geriatric oncology” was  published in Age and Ageing (Bristish Geriatrics Society) and was based on contributions of several faculty members of the SIOG 2017 Advanced Course.
November 02, 2017 – 
an article on “A contribution to the future of geriatric oncology training: The SIOG Treviso advanced course” was published in the JGO. The article was written by Giuseppe Colloca and Silvio Monfardini.
October 05 , 2017 – an article on “The SIOG Treviso course: Students’ perspective” was published in JGO. This article was written by two students who participated in this course in 2016.
